GeForce 7300GT vs 7600GS vs 7600GT

Updated: Aug 24, 2019

Here is the updated set of results started in the previous post. GeForce 7600GT, 7300GT and 7300GT overclocked added to the charts.

Contenders:

PALIT GeForce 7300GT 256 DDR3

GIGABYTE GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR2

ASUS GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR2

MSI GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR2

GAINWARD GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR3

GALAXY GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR3

MSI GeForce 7600GT 256MB DDR2

LEADTEK GeForce 7600GT 256MB DDR3

System Setup & methodology:

RetroPC: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.8Ghz (Barton), 2.5GB RAM Dual Channel DDR400, WindowsXP 32bit SP3.

Drivers version: nvidia ForceWare 307.83

Each graphics card was prepared according to the same routine procedures:

- the new thermal paste (Arctic MX-4) was applied

- warmed up for few hours by playing games until the idle temperature has stabilized

- four synthetic benchmarks in suite bench: 3dmark2001SE, 3dmark2005, 3dmark2006, Furmark 1.6.5

- temperatures were measured in HWiNFO32 in Celsius Degrees. Ambient temperature was about 24C. The minimum temperature was recorded at the beginning of 3dmark2001SE and the maximum in Furmark as the final test in the suite.

There are few things to point out for better explanation of the results.

- GALAXY 7600GS is clocked almost identical as GT version and the results are obviously similar. Which in practice makes it no different than regular 7600GT.

- The PALIT 7300GT card is the one amazing overclocker. When pushed to the limits at 560Mhz/1400Mhz It easily matches or even surpasses other 7600GS cards.

- The MSI 7600GT disappointingly is using slower memory DDR2 instead of DDR3 as other GT models. Therefore it can't match the performance of LEADTEK or GALAXY models.

All tests will be also updated in the future withe the higher end models in 7 lineup such as 7800 and 7900. As soon as I get any working units :-)
